Learn and Master Ballroom Dance – The Tango

The Tango is a dance with a quick staccato feel, striking foot action, and dramatic snapping turns of the head. Tango was born in the slums of Buenos Aires in the late 19th century and became a popular dance in the US before WW1. It was banned in the United States for a period of time due to its scandalous reputation but it is now one of the main forms of ballroom dance.

Here are the steps that will be covered in these two DVDs teaching you how to tango:

• Tango Basic – This is the standard tango step that is characterized by making an upside-down L on the floor
• Tango Rocks – Adds a series of rocks to the basic step
• Single Corte – A type of lunge where the woman steps forward creating the traditional Tango picture
• Curving Basic – The Tango Basic which curves to the gentleman’s left
• Promenade – A V-shaped dance position wehre both partners move forward in the same direction
• Rock and Corte – Combines the Rocks and Corte steps
• Running Steps – A sequence of Tango Basic steps that appears to be running across the floor
• Promenade to Underarm Turn – Promenade steps in which the lady does an underarm turn
• Advanced Rock and Corte – Adds a rotation to the standard Rock and Corte
